Colnago Super

I'm closing out 2010 with the addition of this gorgeous COLNAGO SUPER, fixed gear, with a flip hub, to my stable!
Thanks to Mark Miller's PRECISION BIKES, who had her on the floor for several months, all the while she kept my interest!
This brings the Colnago total to 3,
(C50/Master X-Light/Super).

In a way I'm glad to close the book on 2010, a great year, with many changes in my personal and professional life!
At the clinic, the addition of Scott and Paula has worked out to everybody's advantage and it seems that we have developed a great working relationship.
Lessons learned and hard-headed as I am, still more to be learned.
I am looking forward to new beginnings!
Tomorrow is New Years Day and I hope for a great, healthy, prosperous and peaceful year!
Wishing everyone the same.
A Happy New Year!!!

Christmas-New Years Outing

Paula, Scott and I, being the crew at the Practice of Pain Management, had a nice dinner at the Blue Dog, celebrating the Holidays and thankful for a great year at the clinic.
The food was great, the company even better!
Thanks Paula and Scott for your wonderful contributions to the clinic.

Colnago C50

Speak to any Colnago enthusiast and the C50 always appears in their top list of all time favorite Colnago frames. There is just something about the C50 that plucks the inner heart strings of most cycle fans. Its truly a timeless frame and still looks good in the year 2010. Like a vintage Italian sports car or a beautiful actress such as Sophia Loren, it still turns heads when seen. Its genuinely a seductive frame which causes people to seek them out from all over the world. So what makes this frames so very special, lets take a look - The C50 frame is made using high-modulus carbon-fiber tubes and compression-molded lugs from ATR Composites. The increased strength of the material, compared with previous versions, allows less tube overlap within the lugs. This allows Colnago to use shorter lugs and thinner-walled tubes throughout, resulting in a light yet torsional stiff race bike--one that has seen victories at Paris-Roubaix, as well as in stages of the Grand Tours. In addition to Ferrari, ATR also builds carbon components for Aprilia, Ducati, Lamborghini, Maserati and Porsche.
Colnago's unique HP chainstays have a diamond-shaped cutout, which Colnago claims helps the stays retain structural stiffness while absorbing vibration. The C50 is most certainly compliant, yet there are watts of instant acceleration on tap through the crank, bottom bracket and stays.
Colnago's Precisa straight-blade fork was a revelation when it debuted in 1987. According to Colnago, the standard curved fork of the time didn't absorb road vibration as well as a straight blade. Colnago sticks with the concept with the C50's Star carbon fork. It's noticeably stiff without chatter in high-speed turns.

Satchmo Silkscreening

My dear friend Jason Meaux blessed me with this gorgeous, limited edition, autographed, serigraph of the great Louis Armstrong, by New Orleans artist Greg Giegucz.
Giegucz begins by mapping his image using a graphite pencil.
He divides the image into different areas of value.
The outlining process often demands multiple sittings in order to establish the image's proper foundation.
Once Giegucz develops the undercarriage of his subject, he draws the image using Micron brand archival pens.
The process overall takes up to three months of full-time drawing.
Using archival UV printmaking inks and 300 thread count mesh screens, Giegucz creates an exact replication of the original drawing, suffering losses on neither quality or detail.
The result is a museum quality work of art, that when handled properly, will preserve for hundreds of years.

To learn more about Greg Giegucz and\or his work, please visit his official website at:

Thank you so much Jason!

Sinterklaas

Swift as he is, Sinterklaas has already been spotted on his bike,
making early trips through Holland.
The big delivery date, December 5th is just around the corner, and many kids will be elated on Monday morning, December 6th, finding all kinds of goodies by the fire place!!!
In my memories, most often the goodies I found, during my childhood, consisted of socks, underwear and if with excellent behavior, sometimes a toy car could be found among some candy...
