This is the business Berry and Harriet started in 1996. They more or less resurrected this very old two-level log cabin, which was filled with junk and at a stage of falling apart. Downstairs became designated as store/restaurant, while the upstairs serves as living/sleeping quarters. The grounds have been sculptured into beautiful gardens, adding to the great character of 'Yerba'.It started out as a 'new age' bookstore. The beverage of choice offered to customers was 'yerba mate' tea, which originated in South America. It is a green tea, supposedly very healthy in many respects. The love for this drink that Berry has, obviously resulted in the choice of the name of the bookstore. Over the years the menu expanded and includes now different kinds of coffee and a lunch menu with great variety of choices.
Today Yerba is honored with the "Community Culture Award" in
Uddevalla, Sweden!!! A heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS is definitely in place! Berry and Harriet both have given so much to Uddevalla. Yerba is not just a bookstore, it is a true cultural center with so much to offer to life. I had the pleasure of being introduced to didgeridoo music and Chi-Gong among many other offerings, such as a phenomenal book and music selection.
Motivering: "Yerba kulturbokhandel tilldelas Uddevalla kommuns kulturpris 2007.
Wishing you many more healthy, peaceful and loving years!!!
